With deep roots to its Western Heritage, Clovis is a shining star of the Central Valley and a place where long held traditions and family values are celebrated every day. While Clovis’ strong suit is its small town feel, it has become well recognized as a growing educational, business and technology hub within the San Joaquin Valley.
Clovis is a gateway to the Sierra Nevada Mountains and its innumerable year-round recreational opportunities. During the winter months,
Sierra Summit beckons from just 70 miles to the northwest and offers ski runs and snow parks for athletes of all skill levels. Summer invites local residents to one of five lakes within an hour’s drive, including Millerton, Shaver and Huntington. In addition to nearby skiing, sailing, boating and fishing, Clovis is situated central to three National Parks: Kings Canyon National Park is home to General Grant’s Tree,
the world’s largest; Mount Whitney, with the highest mountain in
the lower 48 states sits majestically to the southeast in Sequoia
National Park; and world famous Yosemite Valley is just an
hour-and-a-half north.
April in Clovis is especially exciting. The Clovis Rodeo and Parade
recently celebrated its 92nd year of community fun, tradition and
excitement and the local favorite, Big Hat Days, was attended by 125,000 people in 2005.
Davante Estates, by local and family-owned home builder Silver Oak Communities, is located in south Clovis and is served by the Reagan Education complex, which includes the newly opened Clovis East High School.
